Decade-long gradual rehabilitation and extension of the 1960s faculty.
This was a very quick two-day session as the press-release had to be finished a month in advance. Mostly grey and rainy, too.
The late october sun is way too low for that building anyway so many images are missing here plus the W garden wasn't finished... Reprise planned for april and may to not only finish the job but also reshoot many images with the right light and at the right moment.
Last evening, about 7PM, after having managed to dislodge the cars parked to the right. This should be done in may at 10PM !
First morning, the only sun I'll ever have, mainly spent dancing with delivery trucks behind me and seeing the sun rise too close, too frontal, too quickly.
45 minutes later - yes : winter days are short.
Impressive LED ceiling, the patterns and motives continuously changing. This one pattern I have waited for an entire hour to appear lasted 25 seconds... and never came back.
North side of the main hall, next to one of the two patios.
West Patio.
East patio ; the 1960s building is... what it is.
Restaurant and main study space outside the library ; this space is flanked by the two patios. Missing was... the sun.
The library was the main reason behind the reshaping of the building ; the blue slits above are just a circulation around the ogival structures.
From the other side...
...further back and lower.
From the stairs - missing is, as in most images of this fist session : the sun !
Far away on the outskirts of the very big library : studying students.
Left of the main entrance.
Left-left of the main entrance : more students.
Left from the main entrance, seen from the left-left-right. Can't wait to re-do this at 10AM with the sun blazing through, deep and bright.
Blatantly, evidently as wide as buildings were made back then : HUGE circulations, marble flooring and wood rails.
From the spot between the entrance to the main auditorium (behind) and to the new library (front).
